About Us - Club Information
The Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club, a non-profit organization, was established on June 24, 1985. The primary role of the Club is to protect and advance the interests of all breeds of purebred dogs and to encourage sportsmanlike competition at dog shows and obedience trials. Our membership consists of a congenial, hard-working group of people who keep this goal in mind. The club conducts matches and AKC licensed dog shows and obedience trials under the rules of the American Kennel Club. The Northeastern Maryland Kennel Club, Inc. also sponsors seminars, Show-and-Go activities and CGC (Canine Good Citizen) Tests, all of which are open to the public. A scholarship of $3,000 is awarded yearly to a student who meets the criteria established by the club. In addition, the Club calendar includes an Awards dinner and a "Junior/Senior" picnic (puppies and veterans).
General meetings are held at 7:00 PM the first Tuesday of each month at the William N. McFaul Activities Center, 525 West MacPhail Road (Rte 24 & MacPhail Road), Bel Air, MD 21014 in accordance with a schedule issued by the club. This includes not less than nine meetings per year. A monthly notice is sent to each member. Board meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month and are open to all members. Prior to each general meeting the Club provides a program on a variety of "dog related" subjects including veterinary medicine, specialized veterinary areas, the breed ring, obedience, current canine topics (including legislation), and any areas of special interest to our members.
NOTE: No meetings in February!
June/December meetings are members only events
